Abiding in heavenly Love

Wednesday readings, 2nd Church, Berkeley CA
SH Ps. 23:1, 2, 4 (to 1st ;), 6
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
SH Ps. 91:1, 11, 12
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
SH Prov. 6:23
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
SH Mal. 3:1-3
1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
SH John 12:44-46
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
SH Luke 6:39
39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
SH Luke 7:21
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
SH John 6:33-35 1st the
33 …the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
SH Luke 17:5, 6
5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
SH Matt. 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
SH John 8:35 3rd the, 36
35 …the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
SH John 14:15-18
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
SH John 15:4, 10
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
SH I Cor. 13:12, 13
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
SH I Pet. 1:22, 23
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
SH I John 2:10
10 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
SH I John 3:24
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him.
SH 55:15-29
Truth’s immortal idea is sweeping down the centuries,
gathering beneath its wings the sick and sinning. My
weary hope tries to realize that happy day, when man shall
recognize the Science of Christ and love his neighbor as
himself, – when he shall realize God’s omnipotence and
the healing power of the divine Love in what it has done
and is doing for mankind. The promises will be ful-
filled. The time for the reappearing of the divine healing
is throughout all time; and whosoever layeth his earthly
all on the altar of divine Science, drinketh of Christ’s
cup now, and is endued with the spirit and power of
Christian healing.
In the words of St. John: “He shall give you another
Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.” This
Comforter I understand to be Divine Science.
SH 214:32-1, 11
Spirit’s senses are with-
out pain, and they are forever at peace.
rial senses, like Adam, originate in matter and
return to dust, – are proved non-intelligent.
They go out as they came in, for they are still the error,
not the truth of being. When it is learned that the spirit-
ual sense, and not the material, conveys the impressions
of Mind to man, then being will be understood and found
to be harmonious.
SH 274:12-20
The senses of Spirit abide in Love, and they demon-
strate Truth and Life. Hence Christianity and the Sci-
ence which expounds it are based on spiritual
understanding, and they supersede the so-
called laws of matter. Jesus demonstrated this great
verity. When what we erroneously term the five physical
senses are misdirected, they are simply the manifested
beliefs of mortal mind, which affirm that life, substance,
and intelligence are material, instead of spiritual.
SH 275:1 (only)
Matter has no life to lose, and Spirit never dies.
SH 304:9-19
This is the doctrine of Christian
Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its
manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into
sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can
never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind
nor life result in death. The perfect man – governed
by God, his perfect Principle – is sinless and eternal.
Harmony is produced by its Principle, is controlled
by it and abides with it. Divine Principle is the Life
of man. Man’s happiness is not, therefore, at
the disposal of physical sense.
SH 456:22
Truth does
the work, and you must both understand and abide by the
divine Principle of your demonstration.
SH 390:20-23
Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon
the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that
it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more
the author of sickness than He is of sin.
SH 495:25-31
Question. – How can I progress most rapidly in the
understanding of Christian Science?
Answer. – Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe
the spirit. Adhere to the divine Principle of Chris-
tian Science and follow the behests of God,
abiding steadfastly in wisdom, Truth, and
Love.
SH 462:13
Whoever would demonstrate the healing of Christian
Science must abide strictly by its rules, heed every state-
ment, and advance from the rudiments laid down. There
is nothing difficult nor toilsome in this task, when the way
is pointed out; but self-denial, sincerity, Christianity, and
persistence alone win the prize, as they usually do in every
department of life.
SH 381:20-28
Think less of the enactments of mortal mind, and you
will sooner grasp man’s God-given dominion. You must
understand your way out of human theories
relating to health, or you will never believe
that you are quite free from some ailment. The har-
mony and immortality of man will never be reached
without the understanding that Mind is not in matter.
Let us banish sickness as an outlaw, and abide by the
rule of perpetual harmony, – God’s law.
SH 495:15-16
Allow nothing but His
likeness to abide in your thought.
SH 578:5-7, 10-11 (to ;), 17 and
[LOVE] maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
[LOVE] leadeth me beside the still waters.
[LOVE] restoreth my soul [spiritual sense]: [Love] lead-
death, I will fear no evil: for [LOVE] is with me; [LOVE’s]
rod and [LOVE’S] staff they comfort me.
of [LOVE] for ever.
