The revelation consists of two parts:
1. The discovery of this divine Science of Mind-
healing, through a spiritual sense of the Scriptures and
through the teachings of the Comforter, as promised by

dispensation now ended, but that they illustrated an
ever-operative divine Principle. The operation of this
Principle indicates the eternality of the scientific order
and continuity of being.

have our being.” What then is this seeming power, in-
dependent of God, which causes disease and
cures it? What is it but an error of belief, –

It is not in accordance with the goodness of God’s char-
acter that He should make man sick, then leave man to

The divine Science taught in the original language
of the Bible came through inspiration, and needs inspi-
ration to be understood. Hence the misappre-
hension of the spiritual meaning of the Bible,

word changes the sense and misstates the Science of
the Scriptures, as, for instance, to name Love as merely
an attribute of God; but we can by special and proper
capitalization speak of the love of Love, meaning by that
what the beloved disciple meant in one of his epistles,
when he said, “God is love.” Likewise we can speak of
the truth of Truth and of the life of Life, for Christ plainly
declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Our aim must be to have them understood spiritually, for only by this under- standing can truth be gained.\n\n\nSH 139:4-14\n From beginning to end, the Scriptures are full of accounts of the triumph of Spirit, Mind, over matter. Moses proved the power of Mind by what men called miracles; so did Joshua, Elijah, and Elisha. The Christian era was ushered in with signs and wonders. Reforms have commonly been attended with bloodshed and persecution, even when the end has been brightness and peace; but the present new, yet old, re- form in religious faith will teach men patiently and wisely to stem the tide of sectarian bitterness, whenever it flows inward.\n\n\nSH 107:1\n In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science. God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the ab- solute divine Principle of scientific mental healing.\n\n\nSH 109:11-16, 22\n For three years after my discovery, I sought the solu- tion of this problem of Mind-healing, searched the Scrip- tures and read little else, kept aloof from so- ciety, and devoted time and energies to dis- covering a positive rule. The search was sweet, calm, and buoyant with hope, not selfish nor depressing. The revelation of Truth in the understand- ing came to me gradually and apparently through divine power. When a new spiritual idea is borne to earth, the prophetic Scripture of Isaiah is renewedly fulfilled: “Unto us a child is born, . . . and his name shall be called Wonderful.\n\n\nSH 123:19-29\n The revelation consists of two parts: 1. The discovery of this divine Science of Mind- healing, through a spiritual sense of the Scriptures and through the teachings of the Comforter, as promised by the Master. 2. The proof, by present demonstration, that the so- called miracles of Jesus did not specially belong to a dispensation now ended, but that they illustrated an ever-operative divine Principle. The operation of this Principle indicates the eternality of the scientific order and continuity of being.\n\n\nSH 208:5-16\n The Scriptures say, “In Him we live, and move, and have our being.” What then is this seeming power, in- dependent of God, which causes disease and cures it? What is it but an error of belief, – a law of mortal mind, wrong in every sense, embracing sin, sickness, and death? It is the very anti- pode of immortal Mind, of Truth, and of spiritual law. It is not in accordance with the goodness of God’s char- acter that He should make man sick, then leave man to heal himself; it is absurd to suppose that matter can both cause and cure disease, or that Spirit, God, produces disease and leaves the remedy to matter.\n\n\nSH 319:21\n The divine Science taught in the original language of the Bible came through inspiration, and needs inspi- ration to be understood. Hence the misappre- hension of the spiritual meaning of the Bible, and the misinterpretation of the Word in some instances by uninspired writers, who only wrote down what an inspired teacher had said. A misplaced word changes the sense and misstates the Science of the Scriptures, as, for instance, to name Love as merely an attribute of God; but we can by special and proper capitalization speak of the love of Love, meaning by that what the beloved disciple meant in one of his epistles, when he said, “God is love.” Likewise we can speak of the truth of Truth and of the life of Life, for Christ plainly declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.\n\n\nSH 24:4-10\n Acquaintance with the original texts, and willingness to give up human beliefs (established by hierarchies, and instigated sometimes by the worst passions of men), open the way for Christian Science to be understood, and make the Bible the chart of life, where the buoys and healing currents of Truth are pointed out.\n\n\nSH 358:9-11, 15\n Christian Science, understood, coincides with the Scriptures, and sustains logically and demonstratively every point it presents. It presents the calm and clear verdict of Truth against error, uttered and illustrated by the prophets, by Jesus, by his apostles, as is recorded throughout the Scriptures.\n\n\nSH 110:13-20\n In following these leadings of scientific revelation, the Bible was my only textbook. The Scriptures were illumined; reason and revelation were recon- ciled, and afterwards the truth of Christian Science was demonstrated. Truth, or Christ, by their genuine repentance, by their

unwelcome visitor, that they indeed love much, because
much is forgiven them.

If Christian Scientists are like Simon, then it must be said of them also that they love little. On the other hand, do they show their regard for Truth, or Christ, by their genuine repentance, by their broken hearts, expressed by meekness and human affection, as did this woman? If so, then it may be said of them, as Jesus said of the unwelcome visitor, that they indeed love much, because much is forgiven them.\n\n\nS&H 365:15-19\n If the Scientist reaches his patient through divine Love, the healing work will be accomplished at one visit, and the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sun- shine.\n\n\nS&H 447:16\n When sin or sickness – the reverse of harmony – seems true to material sense, impart without frightening or discouraging the pa- tient the truth and spiritual understanding, which de- stroy disease. Expose and denounce the claims of evil and disease in all their forms, but realize no reality in them. A sinner is not reformed merely by assuring him that he cannot be a sinner because there is no sin. To put down the claim of sin, you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin and so prove its unreality. one Father, even God, the whole family of man would
be brethren; and with one Mind and that God, or good,
the brotherhood of man would consist of Love and Truth,
and have unity of Principle and spiritual power which
constitute divine Science. The supposed existence of
more than one mind was the basic error of idolatry. This
error assumed the loss of spiritual power, the loss of the
spiritual presence of Life as infinite Truth without an
unlikeness, and the loss of Love as ever present and
universal.
Divine Science explains the abstract statement that
there is one Mind by the following self-evident propo-
sition: If God, or good, is real, then evil, the
unlikeness of God, is unreal. And evil can
only seem to be real by giving reality to the

Divine Science explains the abstract statement that there is one Mind by the following self-evident propo- sition: If God, or good, is real, then evil, the unlikeness of God, is unreal.
