Our God-given dominion

Readings for Wed., 10/26/16, 2nd Church, Berkeley
SH Matt. 4:23 1st Jesus, 24
23 …Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

SH Matt. 12:10 1st there, 11, 12 1st Wherefore, 13
10 …there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 …Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
SH Matt. 19:26 1st With
26 …With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
SH Luke 7:11-15
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. 12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. 15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
SH Luke 9:1, 2, 6, 10, 11
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. 6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. 10 And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
SH Heb. 12:12 1st lift, 13
12 …lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
SH 387:27-32
The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs
of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed
on man by his heavenly Father, omnipotent
Mind, who gives man faith and understanding
whereby to defend himself, not only from temptation, but
from bodily suffering.
SH 337:29-4 Subject (to
Subject sickness, sin, and death to the rule
of health and holiness in Christian Science,
and you ascertain that this Science is demon-
strably true, for it heals the sick and sinning as no
other system can. Christian Science, rightly under-
stood, leads to eternal harmony. It brings to light the
only living and true God and man as made in His like-
ness;
SH 351:8
The author became a member of the orthodox Con-
gregational Church in early years. Later she learned
that her own prayers failed to heal her as did the prayers
of her devout parents and the church; but when the
spiritual sense of the creed was discerned in the Science
of Christianity, this spiritual sense was a present help. It
was the living, palpitating presence of Christ, Truth, which
healed the sick.
SH 496:13
Your fruits
will prove what the understanding of God brings to man.
Hold perpetually this thought, – that it is the spiritual
idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to
demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing,
based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, over-
lying, and encompassing all true being.
SH 516:9 (only), 13-16 (to 2nd .), 19-21
God fashions all things, after His own likeness.
ness, bathes all in beauty and light. The grass beneath
our feet silently exclaims, “The meek shall inherit the
earth.” The modest arbutus sends her sweet breath to
heaven.
Man,
made in His likeness, possesses and reflects God’s domin-
ion over all the earth.
SH 470:32-5
The relations of God and man, divine Principle and
idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows
no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine
order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He cre-
ates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged
in its eternal history.
SH 131:6-7
When once destroyed by divine Science, the false evi-
dence before the corporeal senses disappears.
SH 230:1-2, 4
If sickness is real, it belongs to immortality; if true,
it is a part of Truth.
But if sickness and sin are illusions, the awakening from
this mortal dream, or illusion, will bring us into health,
holiness, and immortality. This awakening is the for-
ever coming of Christ, the advanced appearing of Truth,
which casts out error and heals the sick. This is the sal-
vation which comes through God, the divine Principle,
Love, as demonstrated by Jesus.
SH 259:6 The
The
divine nature was best expressed in Christ Jesus, who
threw upon mortals the truer reflection of God and lifted
their lives higher than their poor thought-models would
allow, – thoughts which presented man as fallen, sick,
sinning, and dying. The Christlike understanding of
scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Prin-
ciple and idea, – perfect God and perfect man, – as the
basis of thought and demonstration.
SH 476:28-32
When speaking of God’s children, not the children of
men, Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you;”
that is, Truth and Love reign in the real
man, showing that man in God’s image is
unfallen and eternal.
SH 131:10
The central fact of
the Bible is the superiority of spiritual over physical power.
SH 516:9 (only), 19, 24-29
God fashions all things, after His own likeness. The grass beneath our feet silently exclaims, “The meek shall inherit the earth.” The modest arbutus sends
her sweet breath to
heaven. The great rock gives shadow and shelter.
Man,
made in His likeness, possesses and reflects God’s domin-
ion over all the earth.
Genesis 1:27. So God created man in His own image,
in the image of God created He him; male and female
created He them.
To emphasize this momentous thought, it is repeated
that God made man in His own image, to reflect the
divine Spirit.
SH 515:25
Your mirrored reflection is your own image or like-
ness. If you lift a weight, your reflection does this also.
If you speak, the lips of this likeness move in
accord with yours. Now compare man before
the mirror to his divine Principle, God. Call the mirror
divine Science, and call man the reflection. Then note
how true, according to Christian Science, is the reflection
to its original. As the reflection of yourself appears in
the mirror, so you, being spiritual, are the reflection of
God. The substance, Life, intelligence, Truth, and Love,
which constitute Deity, are reflected by His creation;
and when we subordinate the false testimony of the
corporeal senses to the facts of Science, we shall see
this true likeness and reflection everywhere.
