Realizing the presence of divine Love

Realizing the presence of divine Love, Wed., 5/7/14 Readings, 2nd Church Berkeley
SH Ps. 46:1, 10 (to 1st :)
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 10 Be still, and know that I am God:
SH Ps. 95:1, 2
1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
SH I Chron. 16:27, 29 1st worship, 34
27 Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. 29 …worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. 34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
SH Ex. 3:1 (to 1st :), 2-5
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
SH Jer. 23:23
23 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off?
SH Ex. 33:12, 14
12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. 14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
SH Ps. 90:1, 4, 12 1st teach, 14
1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. 4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. 12 …teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. 14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
SH Ps. 139:1 1st thou, 2, 7
1 …thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
SH Luke 4:14, 15
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
SH Luke 15:11, 25-29 (to 1st :), 30, 31
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. 26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. 28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. 29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: 30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. 31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
SH Ps. 16:11 (to 1st ;)
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy;
SH 351:8
The author became a member of the orthodox Con-
gregational Church in early years. Later she learned
that her own prayers failed to heal her as did the prayers
of her devout parents and the church; but when the
spiritual sense of the creed was discerned in the Science
of Christianity, this spiritual sense was a present help. It
was the living, palpitating presence of Christ, Truth, which
healed the sick.
SH 519:11-14
Hu-
man capacity is slow to discern and to grasp
God’s creation and the divine power and presence which
go with it, demonstrating its spiritual origin.
SH 292:31-2
In his resurrection and ascension, Jesus showed
that a mortal man is not the real essence of manhood, and
that this unreal material mortality disappears in presence
of the reality.
SH 325:26-29
The time cometh when
the spiritual origin of man, the divine Science which
ushered Jesus into human presence, will be understood
and demonstrated.
SH 465:16-4
Question. – Is there more than one God or Principle?
Answer. – There is not. Principle and its idea is one,
and this one is God, omnipotent, omniscient, and omni-
present Being, and His reflection is man and the universe.
Omni is adopted from the Latin adjective signifying all.
Hence God combines all-power or potency, all-science
or true knowledge, all-presence.
SH 12:1-5
“The prayer of faith shall save the sick,” says the
Scripture. What is this healing prayer? A mere re-
quest that God will heal the sick has no
power to gain more of the divine presence
than is always at hand.
SH 12:31-1
In divine
Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail them-
selves of God as “a very present help in trouble.
SH 14:6
To be “present with the Lord” is to have, not
mere emotional ecstasy or faith, but the actual demon-
stration and understanding of Life as revealed in
Christian Science. To be “with the Lord” is to be in
obedience to the law of God, to be absolutely governed
by divine Love,- by Spirit, not by matter.
SH 174:9-14
The footsteps of thought, rising above material stand-
points, are slow, and portend a long night to the traveller;
but the angels of His presence – the spiritual
intuitions that tell us when “the night is far
spent, the day is at hand” – are our guardians in the
gloom.
SH 266:27-29 (to 1st .)
which originate in mortals are hell. Man is the
idea of Spirit; he reflects the beatific presence, illuming
the universe with light.
SH 512:8-13
Spirit is symbolized by strength, presence, and power,
and also by holy thoughts, winged with Love. These an-
gels of His presence, which have the holiest
charge, abound in the spiritual atmosphere of
Mind, and consequently reproduce their own character-
istics.
SH 303:28
Spiritual man is the image or idea of
God, an idea which cannot be lost nor sep-
arated from its divine Principle. When the evidence
before the material senses yielded to spiritual sense, the
apostle declared that nothing could alienate him from
God, from the sweet sense and presence of Life and
Truth.
SH 412:24
Realize the presence
of health and the fact of harmonious being, until the
body corresponds with the normal conditions of health
and harmony.
SH 470:5
The supposed existence of
more than one mind was the basic error of idolatry. This
error assumed the loss of spiritual power, the loss of the
spiritual presence of Life as infinite Truth without an
unlikeness, and the loss of Love as ever present and
universal.
SH 444:10
Step by
step will those who trust Him find that “God is our refuge
and strength, a very present help in trouble.
SH 275:20-23
Divine metaphysics, as revealed to spiritual understand-
ing, shows clearly that all is Mind, and that Mind is
God, omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience,
– that is, all power, all presence, all Science.
SH 471:17-19
Man is, and forever has been, God’s re-
flection. God is infinite, therefore ever present, and
there is no other power nor presence.
