- SH Deut. 6:4

- SH Deut. 30:19 2nd I, 20 (to 2nd :)
- 19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: 20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days:
- SH Josh. 24:1 1st Joshua, 2, 15 (to 1st ;), 16, 17
- 1 …Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God. 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; 16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods; 17 For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
- SH Ps. 118:14, 15 1st 4th the, 16 (to 1st :), 17
- 14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. 15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. 16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted: 17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
- SH Ps. 55:6 (to 1st !), 8
- 6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! 8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
- SH Dan. 6:25 1st king (to 1st ;), 26, 27
- 25 …king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; 26 I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. 27 He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
- SH Ps. 71:1 (to 1st :), 2 (to 1st :)
- 1 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: 2 Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape:
- SH John 10:23, 30, 31, 37-39
- 23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch. 30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. 39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
- SH Luke 4:24-30
- 24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. 30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
- SH I Cor. 10:13
- 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
- SH Rom. 8:2
- 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
- SH John 8:32
- 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
- SH 428:19-21
- We must realize the ability of mental
might to offset human misconceptions and to replace them
with the life which is spiritual, not material.
- SH 227:21-23
- Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and
cries: “Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sick-
ness, sin, and death!” Jesus marked out the
- SH 494:15 Jesus
- Jesus
demonstrated the inability of corporeality, as well as the
infinite ability of Spirit, thus helping erring
human sense to flee from its own convictions
and seek safety in divine Science. Reason, rightly di-
rected, serves to correct the errors of corporeal sense; but
sin, sickness, and death will seem real (even as the ex-
periences of the sleeping dream seem real) until the Sci-
ence of man’s eternal harmony breaks their illusion with
the unbroken reality of scientific being.
- SH 256:2-5
- Advancing to a higher plane of ac-
tion, thought rises from the material sense to
the spiritual, from the scholastic to the in-
spirational, and from the mortal to the immortal.
- SH 315:21-24, 26 ; 316:2-3
- Jesus’ spiritual origin and understanding enabled him
to demonstrate the facts of being, – to prove irrefutably
how spiritual Truth destroys material error,
heals sickness, and overcomes death.
sented an illustration of creation. The history of Jesus
shows him to have been more spiritual than all other
earthly personalities.
- SH 128:11
- The human
mind, imbued with this spiritual understanding, becomes
more elastic, is capable of greater endurance, escapes
somewhat from itself, and requires less repose. A knowl-
edge of the Science of being develops the latent abilities
and possibilities of man. It extends the atmosphere of
thought, giving mortals access to broader and higher
realms. It raises the thinker into his native air of insight
and perspicacity.
- SH 480:8, 20-23
- Nerves are an element of the belief that there is sensa-
tion in matter, whereas matter is devoid of sensation.
Consciousness, as well as action, is governed
by Mind, – is in God, the origin and gov-
ernor of all that Science reveals. Material sense has
its realm apart from Science in the unreal. Harmonious
action proceeds from Spirit, God. inharmony has no
Principle; its action is erroneous and presupposes man
to be in matter. Inharmony would make matter the
cause as well as the effect of intelligence, or Soul, thus
attempting to separate Mind from God.
It is the oppo-
site of good – that is, evil – which seems to
make men capable of wrong-doing. Hence,
evil is but an illusion, and it has no real basis.
- SH 532:22 2nd Is
- “Where art thou, man? Is Mind in matter? Is Mind
capable of error as well as of truth, of evil as well as of
good, when God is All and He is Mind and there is but
one God, hence one Mind?
- SH 360:13-21
- Dear reader, which mind-picture or externalized thought
shall be real to you, – the material or the spiritual?
Both you cannot have. You are bringing out
your own ideal. This ideal is either temporal
or eternal. Either Spirit or matter is your model. If you
try to have two models, then you practically have none.
Like a pendulum in a clock, you will be thrown back and
forth, striking the ribs of matter and swinging between the
real and the unreal.
- SH 355:11
- Let discord of every name and nature
be heard no more, and let the harmonious and true sense
of Life and being take possession of human consciousness.
- SH 480:29-2
- If sin, sickness, and
death were understood as nothingness, they would dis-
appear. As vapor melts before the sun, so evil would
vanish before the reality of good. One must hide the
other. How important, then, to choose good as the
reality! Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing
