ness and goodness would have no abiding-place in man,
and the worms would rob him of the flesh; but Paul
writes: “The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath

A mortal, corporeal, or
finite conception of God cannot embrace the glories of
limitless, incorporeal Life and Love. Hence
the unsatisfied human craving for something
better, higher, holier, than is afforded by a
material belief in a physical God and man.
Man is more than a material form with a mind inside,
which must escape from its environments in
order to be immortal. Man reflects infinity,
and this reflection is the true idea of God.
The
human capacities are enlarged and perfected in propor-
tion as humanity gains the true conception of man and
God.
Mortals have a very imperfect sense of the spiritual
man and of the infinite range of his thought. To him
belongs eternal Life.
Through spiritual sense you can discern the heart of
divinity, and thus begin to comprehend in Science the
generic term _man.

Acquaintance with the Science of being enables us to
commune more largely with the divine Mind, to foresee
and foretell events which concern the universal welfare,
to be divinely inspired, – yea, to reach the range of fetter-
less Mind.
To understand that Mind is infinite, not bounded by
corporeality, not dependent upon the ear and eye for
sound or sight nor upon muscles and bones
for locomotion, is a step towards the Mind-
science by which we discern man’s nature and existence.

Truth, and Love – is God. The universe reflects God.
There is but one creator and one creation. This crea-
tion consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their
identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and
forever reflected. These ideas range from the infini-
tesimal to infinity, and the highest ideas are the sons
and daughters of God.

So-called mortal mind – being non-
existent and consequently not within the range of im-
mortal existence – could not by simulating deific power
invert the divine creation, and afterwards recreate per-
sons or things upon its own plane, since noth-
ing exists beyond the range of all-inclusive
infinity, in which and of which God is the
sole creator.

that the fetters of man’s finite capacity are forged by the
illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter
instead of in Spirit.

Human codes, scholastic theology, material medicine and
hygiene, fetter faith and spiritual understanding. Divine
Science rends asunder these fetters, and man’s birthright
of sole allegiance to his Maker asserts itself.
The lame, the deaf, the dumb, the blind, the sick, the
sensual, the sinner, I wished to save from the slavery of
their own beliefs and from the educational
systems of the Pharaohs, who to-day, as of
yore, hold the children of Israel in bondage. I saw be-
fore me the awful conflict, the Red Sea and the wilder-
ness; but I pressed on through faith in God, trusting
Truth, the strong deliverer, to guide me into the land
of Christian Science, where fetters fall and the rights of
man are fully known and acknowledged.

as it destroys all error and the belief that Mind, the only
immortality of man, can be fettered by the
body, and Life be controlled by death.

DEATH. An illusion, the lie of life in matter; the un-
real and untrue; the opposite of Life.
Matter has no life, hence it has no real existence. Mind
is immortal. The flesh, warring against Spirit; that
which frets itself free from one belief only to be fettered
by another, until every belief of life where Life is not
yields to eternal Life.

1 Cor.13 1,3 If I speak with the eloquence of men and of angels, but have no love, I become no more than blaring brass or crashing cymbal… If I dispose of all that I possess, yes, even if I give my own body to be burned, but have no love, I achieve precisely nothing. 5-6 Love has good manners and does not pursue selfish advantage. It is not touchy. It does not keep account of evil or gloat over the wickedness of other people. On the contrary, it is glad with all good men when truth prevails.7-8a Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. Love never fails. 12 At present we are men looking at puzzling reflections in a mirror. The time will come when we shall see reality whole and face to face! At present all I know is a little fraction of the truth, but the time will come when I shall know it as fully as God now knows me! 13 In this life we have three great lasting qualities—faith, hope and love. But the greatest of them is love.

material or trusting in it more than in the spiritual.

The material senses and
human conceptions would translate spiritual ideas into
material beliefs, and would say that an anthropomorphic
God, instead of infinite Principle, – in other words, divine
Love, – is the father of the rain, “who hath begotten the
drops of dew,” who bringeth “forth Mazzaroth in his sea-
son,” and guideth “Arcturus with his sons.

gave the true idea of being, which results in infinite bless-
ings to mortals.

the cloud with the bow of beauty, blazons the night with

Nature voices natural, spiritual law and divine Love,
but human belief misinterprets nature. Arctic regions,
sunny tropics, giant hills, winged winds,

and glorious heavens, – all point to Mind, the spiritual
intelligence they reflect. The floral apostles are hiero-
glyphs of Deity. Suns and planets teach grand lessons.
The stars make night beautiful, and the leaflet turns nat-
urally towards the light.
In the order of Science, in which the Principle is above
what it reflects, all is one grand concord.
SH 516:12-21
Love, redolent with unselfish-
ness, bathes all in beauty and light. The grass beneath
our feet silently exclaims, “The meek shall inherit the
earth.” The modest arbutus sends her sweet breath to
heaven. The great rock gives shadow and shelter. The
sunlight glints from the church-dome, glances into the
prison-cell, glides into the sick-chamber, brightens the
flower, beautifies the landscape, blesses the earth. Man,
made in His likeness, possesses and reflects God’s domin-
ion over all the earth.

Mind is not necessarily dependent upon educational
processes. It possesses of itself all beauty and poetry,
and the power of expressing them.

In one sense God is identical with nature, but this na-
ture is spiritual and is not expressed in matter.

The periods of
spiritual ascension are the days and seasons of Mind’s
creation, in which beauty, sublimity, purity, and holiness
– yea, the divine nature – appear in man and the uni-
